Some History For You Guys

Nike, originally known as Blue Ribbon Sports, was founded by University of Oregon track athlete Philip Knight and his coach Bill Bowerman in January 1964. The company initially operated as a distributor for Japanese shoe maker Onitsuka Tiger, making most sales at track meets out of Knight's automobile. Nike produces a wide range of sports equipment. Their first products were track running shoes.

Nike's first acquisition was the upscale footwear company Cole Haan in 1988. Nike's first acquisition was the upscale footwear company Cole Haan in 1988.

So the selling price on a large chunk of Americana is 305 million dollars? That was the price Nike paid to buy Converse. Nike didn't just buy shoes, they bought years and years of history. The infamous "Chuck Taylor" sneakers have been around for decades. Although they were never intended to become the official shoe of the counter-culture, they did so, anyway.

Nike sells its product to more than 25,000 retailers in the U.S. (including Nike's own outlets and "Niketown" stores) and in approximately 160 countries in the world. The company also has a program called NIKEiD at nikeid.com, which allows customers to customize designs of some styles of Nike shoes and deliver them directly from manufacturer to the consumer. Nike sells its products in international markets through independent distributors, licensees, and subsidiaries.

Entry 8: Progress

So I really feel like I am making progress on my project..finally. Right now I am looking around for the perfect song match...which is sort of hard..I'm stuck between The Strokes..."killing lies", "You only live once" and Matt and Kim "Daylight" OR hot hot heat "Middle of nowhere"...It would be nice if people suggested some wonderful songs to me...=) I'd really appreciate it. But yeah I'm glad things are starting to look up. Hopefully is stays that way. Going back to work brbb.

Trouble in Paradise...

So after a week of having a steady topic and researching these dance styles and videos I then realized I cannot download these videos. Due to copyright problems or just not having a way for the video to be downloaded off of the website are issues that I am having. If I don't have any videos then I do not have a project. This is serious problem that is weighing heavy on my shoulders. So as a result I have chosen to just simply change my project. My new project..I don't have a name for it yet and it's sort of hard to explain the basis of it without it sounding stupid. So as of now Ii'm going to say my project is about sneakers...or should I say feet? Either or it deals with that field. And good thing I've already started on it and am making good progress. Now hopefully that I changed my topic I can find a cute template for my blog

L a y o u t

It is really hard trying to make your blog cool-looking...or is it just me? I have yet to find the perfect layout that matches my topic..so for now my blog is gonna be pretty bland..=/

=)

So yeah..the other day I said I figured out my topic for my final and...it is ::DRUMROLL:: a video on dance fads/crazes over the decades. Yes Sounds like a lot of work. but so far I've listed all of the most popular dances for each decade since the 1920s. And right now I am on youtube.com and dailymotion.com and other sites trying to grab some footage/pics of these dances...

Workshop 11/12/09

As of Today I am starting to think I am going to do my project on a video documentary on Hip-hop Dance teams of the Bronx. I am not 100% sure this is what I want to do or if I have the time to complete it but I have began a little research on it during class time.

Over the past couple of years dance has began to take America by storm. Not only on the streets and in competitions but through televison. Shows such as "The Wade Robson project", "So you think you can Dance", and "America best dance Crew" has set a trend and growing intrest for America today. Films also played an significant role in this growth. Movies such a "Save the last dance", "You got Served", "dirrty dancing", "fame", and "Step it up" Are some contributers. Hip-Hop dance is one of the many styles that can be said to be a main focus within some of these shows. Unfortunately I cannot travel around the country and film various dance teams like I would like to. But I can film some from the my Home and the home of Hip-hop itself...The Bronx as well as dance fabs that are taking over today.

Hip-Hop Dance refers to social choreogrpahed dance styles primarily dancing to hip-hop music or has evovled from the hip-hop culture. Some styles of hip hop dancing include popping, breaking, and locking. dance fads currently take over the youth of america. dances such as "stanky leg", "crank that solider boy", "pop lock and drop it" and "the jerk"

Day 1: ConFusion!

So today is the first day that I began to think about all of my options for my final project. And as I sat in Dr. Smiths class and listened to all that he had to say...my head began to spin!I have no clue what I am going to do for this project I just know I gotta figure it out ASAP. Right now I'm sitting in the computer lab browsing the net seeing if any random ideas would pop into my head...and so far NOTHING.[btw its freezing cold in here which is distracting my thoughts] >=0

Going back to brainstorming =/
