Workshop 11/12/09

As of Today I am starting to think I am going to do my project on a video documentary on Hip-hop Dance teams of the Bronx. I am not 100% sure this is what I want to do or if I have the time to complete it but I have began a little research on it during class time.

Over the past couple of years dance has began to take America by storm. Not only on the streets and in competitions but through televison. Shows such as "The Wade Robson project", "So you think you can Dance", and "America best dance Crew" has set a trend and growing intrest for America today. Films also played an significant role in this growth. Movies such a "Save the last dance", "You got Served", "dirrty dancing", "fame", and "Step it up" Are some contributers. Hip-Hop dance is one of the many styles that can be said to be a main focus within some of these shows. Unfortunately I cannot travel around the country and film various dance teams like I would like to. But I can film some from the my Home and the home of Hip-hop itself...The Bronx as well as dance fabs that are taking over today.

Hip-Hop Dance refers to social choreogrpahed dance styles primarily dancing to hip-hop music or has evovled from the hip-hop culture. Some styles of hip hop dancing include popping, breaking, and locking. dance fads currently take over the youth of america. dances such as "stanky leg", "crank that solider boy", "pop lock and drop it" and "the jerk"
